IP & Data Protection in the US and Germany

This is a panel discussion on the Intellectual Property and Data Protection Regulations in the US and Germany.

Digitization of data as well as technological advances continue to present new opportunities for brands to engage with their customers. This also help businesses connect and grow on a global scale faster than ever before. With these opportunities come new challenges, such as IP infringement, IT threats, and data regulation compliance. Regulations do vary, so understanding these challenges and their legal implications is imperative for today’s business world.

Our transatlantic panel consists of legal professionals Dr. Morton Douglas and Werner Bachmann from Freiburg, Germany as well as Esther T. Earbin and Eric W. Klemm from the US.

Panelists will discuss US and German law relating to IP and data protection. Points of discussion will include defining IP, trade secrets, data as an asset, data protection, and open access to data. At the end there will be time for some Q &A.

Moderation will be by Ashley Matthäus of the German-American Business Community at the Carl-Schurz-Haus in Freiburg, Germany.
